Gratefulness

REFRESHING THE HEART

Today's Scripture:
Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or fully declare his praise?(Psalm 106:1,2)(NIV)

From The Herald:

Someone once said “Nothing is more honorable than a grateful heart.” I hope to gain the honor which comes from a grateful heart towards God and all That He's done for me. It is unquestionable that God is in control the Bible is His book and we should all read it and get to know Him.
One would scarcely know where to start heaping accolades upon the God introduced to me through this tome. His power is a forgone conclusion, His Kindness also, in that He has saved mankind from himself countless times. And this world that he has seeded with us humans and all other manner of things and creatures is still unfolding it's riches, pouring out blessing that we DO NOT have room to contain. Then he blesses us with family, friends and serendipitous relationships that help sustain us through all manner of eventualities.

Yes I am Grateful for His pulling me back from death's door. Grateful that He has restored the years the the canker worm had stolen. Grateful for the discipline. Though it was not pleasant at the time but yielded in me a great and pleasant fruit. Grateful for people, places and things. Grateful for a Loving Wife and Son and brothers.

Finally friends I am Grateful for today, a gift, which is why they call it "The Present". Merry Christmas and a Divine 2009.

What Passion

REFRESHING THE HEART

Todays Scripture:

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going. (Eccles.9:10)(MKJB)
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.(Col. 3:23)(MKJB)

From The Herald:

Some say that we are missing the passion and sense of mission mandated in the New Testament. I was reading an article in which a church was having to struggle against attacks from a financial institution.
In my humble opinion the problem is indicative of the church having a passion, not, for the pure propagation of the gospel of Christ, but for self aggrandizement. That being represented in the building boom for awe inspiring effect, which seems to have become our mission.
For the church to become effective in this day and time we must actually be of like Passion or like affected as those New Testament saints. Our pathology being external, similar to those saints in that we are being persecuted for the propagation of the gospel, not internal, for pridefully trying to impress the world outside of the will of God.
To heartily toil without fear or favor because we know that Jesus Christ is the answer for what ever ails this world, is what we must aspire to, being above reproach and blameless.
Friends the church was not founded to give us worldly status but so that we may have fellowship with God and Fellow believers as we go into all the world preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Be not entangled.

Sincerity

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in full knowledge and in all perception; that you may distinguish between things that differ, that you may be sincere and without offense until the day of Jesus Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:9-11)(MKJB)

FROM THE HERALD:

Sincerity is the virtue of one who speaks truly about his or her own feelings, thoughts, desires. but is that enough? Sincerity first discussed by Aristotle in his Nicomachean Ethics it resurfaced to become an ideal (virtue) in Europe and North America in the 17th century. It was once thought if a person was sincere that he spoke truth. today we know better. Martin Luther King said “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

This is the reason why Apostle Paul exhorted the Philippians and by extension the Church to approve or test what you think is sincere, making sure that it is properly acceptable according to the word of God.
When we hear tempting things that sound oh so true because of the conviction of the speaker we should stop think and compare. In essence examine it to see if it meets muster before we allow that thing to take hold of our hearts and minds.
Friends when we are discerning we can parse whether the sincere is actually true.
